Maui Day 14

Today we SURVIVED the Road to Hana. With approximately 600 curve and 54 bridges, winding roads, blind turns, constant traffic, distracting views, narrow one-lane roads, cliffs, and wet conditions Hana Highway has proven its worth as a danger with many fatalities. It was a bit intimidating at first, but we made it safely. There is definitely no better way to take the drive than in a convertible.

My favorite is, when I took a photo of the speed limit sign Brandon was going 30. Wreckless driving? Many of the following photos were taken from a moving car, which was not always doing 30.

I am absolutely in love with these eucalyptus gum or painted trees.

We are in the jungle now. This was an arboretum with hundreds of beautiful plants.

We saw several waterfalls, but the two I was looking forward to see the most, Blue Pool and the Seven Sacred Pools were both closed. We missed that and also the bamboo forest.
Three random swings on the beach.

Two brothers who were going off to fight in WWII, swam out to this island and planted two palm trees. They told their parents to watch these palm trees grow tall and strong, just like they would have if they didn't come home. Happily they did safely return and now there is a small group of trees.

Last stop on the way home, to get some banana bread from a stand on the side of the road.

Wow!! These are such great photos!! I especially love the blurred one taken out of the window of the car. It definitely reminds me of how I felt on the road to Hana!
