99 Days to Go!

Just realized I have less than 100 days till our little brother comes and joins us (hopefully!)

While the number is getting smaller, it still seems so far away.

Our Silly Boy

Sam has two words that he frequently says wrong. Noise has become Noisy and Loud is Lousy. So if he hears something and doesn't know what it is he will say, "Mom, what is that noisy?" or if something is really loud he will say, "Dad, you have lousy music." It is funny to hear how somethings come out...
"Those kids are really lousy."
"Mom you are really lousy."
"The noisy just gets lousier and lousier."

Sam to my sister Melissa (18): You have a baby in your stomach?
Melissa: No!
Sam: When you grow up, you get sick and have a baby?

Sam: Lola, you want to play Wack-a-Mole with me?
Lola: I want to play Wack-a-Sam
Sam: No! Wack-a-Lola

Brandon and Sam were playing pirates the other day...
Brandon: Arg. Tell me where your buried treasure is.
Sam: We don't have buried treasure here.
Brandon: I'll carve your heart out with a spoon. (A little too graphic for a 2 1/2 year old. I know.)
Sam: No, dad, spoons are for eating.
Now Sam is always running around the house saying, "Arg Matey. I hook ya with my hook."

While passing out conversation hearts to Brandon and me, Sam found one that said, "URA tiger." Since then he is constantly saying , "Dad, you and me are tigers. GRRR."

Sam found a spot where the sun was lighting the carpet. He didn't want the sun on the carpet and decided the best way to get rid of it would be to vacuum it up. He used an attachment and repetitively went over the carpet. As the sun moved the sun spot got smaller and then eventually moved to the wall, just around the corner from where Sam was working so hard to vacuum up the sun. He is now convinced that we can suck up the sun with the vacuum and put it in the garbage with the rest of the dirt.

Sam was feeling the baby kick and said, "He popped out." Which is exactly what it feels like he is trying to do sometimes.

Brandon was changing Sam's diaper and said, "That is sick."
Sam's reply, "No dad it is poopy."

Sam was playing with Jillian and was throwing himself on the ground to get a laugh.
Jillian: You are falling on purpose.
Sam: (pointing to the ground) Is this purpose?
Jillian: No
Sam: (pointing to the heater vent) Is this purpose?
Jillian: No
Sam: Where is purpose?

Lola gave Sam an extra Beauty and the Beast puzzle. No matter how many times we try and correct him, he insists on calling it his "Booty and the Geek" puzzle. By this time we think it is so cute, we don't even try to correct him any more.

Athen Bitner Harris

Brandon's sister, Haley and her husband Tim, had their baby boy on Friday evening at 6:45 pm. He w is 7 lbs 15 oz. and 20.5 inches long. He is so cute and we are excited for our first cousin and nephew. Congrats to the new family!

Big Belly

Due to popular demand (Lynsey!) here is a photo of me at 26 weeks. This is one of several I took the other day and after looking at them, it may be the only one you see. By this time with Sam I was just barely showing, so I feel huge. And evidently there is still not enough room in there for our little boy. He doesn't kick a lot, but when he does, it feels like he is trying to break out.

I am surprised how different this pregnancy was from Sam's. With Sam, I didn't have any problems and felt great up until two weeks after my due date when I was induced. This little guy is already giving me the occasional back aches, I have a hard time sleeping and I can't put on my own socks anymore. Sad. Baby is doing great with a really strong heart rate and is measuring right on target.

We are excitingly anticipating his arrival. I am interested to see if he looks like, Sam or completely different. Sam is going to be a good big brother. He loves talking to the baby, giving my belly hugs and kisses, feeling him kick and then talk about all they are going to do together when the baby comes out: play soccer, sleep in his tent, go on bike rides in the trailer (because mom is too big and would break it), and watch Lightning McQueen and Mater on Cars.

Bagels and Donuts

This week has been full of remote control cars. Sam had fun playing with one at Grandpa Jan and Lola's house and now Grandma just gave him one. When he opened it up we didn't think we had batteries. Sam was so good and said, "I'll just pretend it works." And he did. Luckily we were able to find some batteries and get the little car working. As Sam was driving it around he kept on talking about bagels. It took us a little while to realize he was saying the car was spinning in donuts. Doesn't matter to us, we like both.

Close-up

Valentine's

I know this is a little late, but I just wanted to share that I have the best husband ever. Recently my vacuum died and to replace it Brandon bought me a Dyson I found on craigslist. I love it, but because it cost more than I would ever thought of spending on a vacuum I told Brandon it was my Valentine's and Mother's day presents for the year. Then on Valentine's Day Brandon surprised me with the announcement that he was taking me to a spa later that day for a massage (prenatal) and then out to dinner. My lower back has been hurting a lot lately and I think Brandon was tired of rubbing it for me and even more tired of me waking him up to rub it. It was a wonderful hour and a half of relaxation and I am looking forward to my next one (Brandon, hint, hint). Then Brandon, Sam and I had a delicious dinner at Mazatlan and my favorite ice cream from Cold Stone (cake batter with strawberries mixed in). Yum!

Brandon is the best and I couldn't imagine my life with out him. He is constantly making me laugh, even when I want to be mad. He is a great dad, who loves Sam and little brother and you can tell through his words and actions. I love you!

Google Reader

I don't know about all of you, but I think (well... I know) I spend a lot of time checking everyone's blogs. While I love reading the new updates and seeing the new pictures that are posted, I spend most of my time clicking on everyone's links to see if there have been any new posts. Well a friend of mine introduced me to Google Reader. (Thanks Scott!) You can log in through your gmail and enter all the blogs you want to be notified about updates. Then constantly throughout the day it will list all the blogs that have been updated. Now I check Google Reader for blog updates instead of having to check each individual blog. It saves so much time. Try it out.
