Give and Take

Brandon was helping me do some technical stuff in Illustrator to create my new header and his creative side was going overboard. I attempted to reel him back in and received this response, "It is all about give and take isn't it? I give, give, give and you say take that out, and take that out, and take that out."

I love my obsessive, detail oriented, perfectionist!

Scouting things out

After 10 months of a calling break I received my new calling... Wolf/ Bear Den Leader. My first thought was, I don't have any scouts yet. Second thought, Bekah!

What better way to ring in the new calling than the Pine Wood Derby!

I loved going to the Pine Wood Derbys when my brothers were in scouts and I still love it now. I have no idea what lies ahead, but I am excited to try something new. Welcome to the craziness!

Blondie

When Brandon and I were dating, Brandon mentioned to a friend, "Emily's cool, but I can't imagine marrying her. I can't picture myself with dark haired, dark eyed kids."

Well, I never pictured myself with a blond baby. But I can't imagine our family without this chubby blondie.

Snuggie Outside

Introducing the NEW and IMPROVED Snuggie! Now for your legs. No need for leg warmers, lap blankets or PANTS. Blankets are OK, but they slip and slid. And when you need to walk somewhere your legs are trapped inside. Merely insert your legs into the arms of a coat and you have pants and a blanket in one.

The weather has been beautiful lately. (Well, except for just about an hour ago when it was hailing and snowing.) A couple of days ago, I spent the afternoon cleaning the yard, planting fall bulbs (still catching up), and playing with the boys. Jackson woke up from his nap and Brandon got him dressed to join us in the sun. Jackson is wearing his snuggie, aka Sam's coat and no pants. Leave it to a dad.

Sam enjoyed kicking balls, digging in the dirt and decorating our sidewalk. He was my big helper planting the bulbs. He is so excited for our flowers to "pop out of the dirt!" He also helped me crumble dried up daffodil bulbs in an attempt to keep the neighborhood deer out of our yard and eating my plants. Cross your fingers it will work. Sam can't, because "then you can't grab anything." Silly kid.

Samisms

Sam on picking toe jam: There is a blizzard (blister) between my toes.
Mom: Will you put an oreo in your socks and make me one too?

Sam is eating a box of Wheat Thins in the pantry with the door closed.
Mom: What are you doing?
Sam: I just can't tell you right now. Sorry. [as he grabs the doorknob and closes the door again.]

Movin' and Grovin'

Dunk (duck) your head!

Sam: Jackson may I have one of your cookies? Yes or No? Yes. Ok. Thank you!
Jackson: silence

Tortilla Chips: Thunder Chips
Silver: Servile
Runny (Egg) Yoke: Melted Oak
Fruit Roll Up: Roll Over

Brandon was saying the prayer, blessing breakfast, with Sam in a loud whisper in the background, "Food, food, food, food, food," until Brandon blessed the food. Apparently Sam was hungry and the prayer was too long, so Sam cut Brandon off and ended the prayer too.

Sam: Nicole is away?
Mom: Yes.
Sam: She is at home or school?
Mom: She is in Chile.
Sam: Mom we can't eat people!!!!

Mom: Grandpa Koontz went to go live with Heavenly Father and Jesus.
Sam: Why?
Mom: When people get old they die and live with Heavenly Father and Jesus in Heaven.
Sam: [big eyes] When people get old they die?
Mom: Yes, sometimes.
Sam: [bigger eyes] I am going to die?
Mom: No. You are still young.
Sam: No, mom, I am not young. I am a big boy! Oh No! I am going to die!

Sam: Dad will you blow up my balloon?
Dad: Ask mom.
Sam: She can't. She is not full of hot air.

Sam: I haven't seen this movie in a lot a while.

Name this movie: These are quotes from movies which Sam has put into his daily vocabulary
1. "Even you can't blow it."
"He thinks he's such a lady killer."

2. "Get 'er done."
"Dad Gum"
"Not all my tricks rue gee (rookie)"

3. "You can't get a man with a gun."
