Halloween 2011

Every Halloween I have grand plans of doing something fun for dinner, decorations, and treats. And every year I feel caught up in a whirlwind of chaos and never make it very far. This year was no exception. I had a fabulous idea to dress the family as the cast of Phineas and Ferb. It started off as a joke, but the more I thought about it the more excited I got. But that is as far as I got... I thought about it.

So we retreated to the good ol' costume box. Sam had been a ninja the previous Saturday, but sometime in the last two days, his costume disappeared. So we frantically scrounged through the dress up clothes and mustered up this cowboy costume. Pretty darn cute if you consider the five minutes it took to put it together. Unfortunately, Grandpa Roger's chaps and bolster started falling apart as we left to knock doors. Poor Sam was held together by so many safety pins and eventually the straps were just stuck in his jeans. Totally helped with his "I just got off my horse" walk.

Sam got the hang of trick or treating and was running from house to house.

Jackson was ready to go home and eat his candy after a few houses.

Max was somewhere in between. He enjoyed knocking on the doors, which usually resulted in him falling into the house, because he was leaning on the door. He was trying really hard to say Trick or Treat, at least we could understand him. He would get a new candy and be so focused on trying to open it himself until we got to the next door and then we would repeat the process all over again.

Once they got home they had a blast checking out their loot, trading candies and of course eating as much as they could until mom came and ruined the fun. Originally the plan was to let them pick out ten favorites and we would get rid of the rest. But three pairs of big puppy dog eyes and Brandon's question, "You aren't really going to take that all away from them? Are you?" Resulted in a change of heart. We now have a community bowl, but it is out of reach for little hands. So there is still some control in our house.

Halloween Party : Alice in Horrorland

jackson the frog, athen the tiger, sam the ninja and emily

As tradition goes, we ventured down to the Brown's {Brandon's Uncle Cory and Aunt Lisa} for their Annual Halloween Party at the farm. As always it was a good time! This year was dry and chilly. Probably the reason I didn't take my camera out of the car and instead stole these photos from Haley.

Big Boy

The boys accompanied me on a photo shoot at Uncle Cory and Aunt Lisa's farm. Max sat and watched the horses forever. Then he realized that his brothers were climbing the gates and he wanted to join in the fun. This little boy is quite the climber. He scales the chairs and tables, couches and has even learned how to push the chairs around to get onto the kitchen counter. Definitely have to keep my eye on him.

Yakin' Jackson

E: Are you playing out field?
J: No, I am a force field man.

Uncle Jeremy: Sorry I got held up. This guy talked my ear off.
Jackson: A guy chopped your ear off?!
UJ: Yeah!
J: One time when I was older, this guy chopped my ear off. He was like chop, chop, chop.

E: I love you more than the moon!
J: I love you more than bites!
E: Bites?
J: Yeah, I love you more than bites and stooters! {bikes and scooters}

B: No more pop. It isn't really good for your body.
J: WHAT? But I like pop! Do monsters drink pop?
B: Yes, monsters drink pop. If you drink pop you will turn into a monster. {reenactment to emphasize point}
J: If you drink pop and turn into a monster and eat me you will have to sit in timeout in jail!

Spoons and Forks

This little one loves to eat. He eats all day long. Literally. He is learning to sign more and cup. And in addition, this one is also obsessed with using utensils on his own. It is usually a mess. A BIG mess. He is getting better every meal and gets more and more in his mouth and less on the front of him or the floor.
