The next afternoon we took the scenic three hour drive from Norfolk, VA to Rodanthe, NC. Along the way we saw a monster truck. Then another and another and another and a track. One u-turn later we were at Grave Digger's Racing Shop. Sam was ecstatic because Grave Digger is one of the Hot Wheel Monster Trucks he has at home. Had we come two weeks later, we could have taken advantage of the $5 monster truck rides on the track. Bummer. Next time our trip will be after April 15th.
they may look happy, but they were both screaming to get down
grave digger animals : sam, jackson, brandon
yeah, jackson is still screaming here : woke up from his nap prematurely
Shauna and Cam meet us at The Big Kahuna with a delicious dinner and gave us a tour of the house and instructions to the movie theatre. The next couple of hours were filled with exploration and giddy little kids. The point of the island where The Big Kahuna sits is less than a mile wide, so you can see the sun rise over the ocean and the sun set over the sound.
sun set over the sound
Then it was bed time for the kids, so the parents could play.
